A conversation with Dr. Elaine Ferguson About the Mind/Body Connection to Health and Healing

This week we have a guest in the tent, Dr. Elaine Ferguson, author, speaker, and a physician who specializes in integrative medicine! Dr. Wendy met Dr. Elaine several years ago and they knew right away they were soul sisters. Both doctors have been on a quest to enjoy and explore the journey of wisdom, empowerment, and holistic medicine. Join us in the tent for a conversation about the healing power found within the body.

Dr. Elaine grew up knowing that she would be a medical doctor. It was in her bones and she knew that health and nutrition had to play a part in healing the body. While in medical school at Duke University she anticipated with excitement all of the nutrition classes that would hold the key to healing and well-being. But those classes were not part of the curriculum. Dr. Elaine shares with us her disappointment as a young medical student and how that frustration led her to a career in integrative medicine. “Far more important and meaningful to me than all of my achievements and credentials is my passionate calling to help you live to create the good health you desire and deserve.”

You have an amazing body.  One that is designed to function with ease.  Your health is your greatest wealth, and your life, like the lives of others, is a precious gift. It is a blessing to be alive and to experience the joy that only thriving vitality can bring. Dr. Elaine Ferguson

Moments with Your Higher Self

Carefully curated activities – we’re educators, we know that reflection on a topic (homework) works and these activities can help us share even more moments with our higher self.

Dr. Elaine Ferguson’s tips for keeping your yourself well during Flu season, COVID-19, or just in general:

  1. Stay connected to yourself and others. It may be via letters, email, online, etc, but reach out to people. Check in on your own self to determine how well you feel.
  2. Love yourself! It may sound selfish, but the truth really is that love is already present. We just need to remove the barriers that block it. Resolve the painful memories.
  3. Work on feeling worthy of love – mainly your own self-love and then you’ll be able to receive real love from others.
  4. Listen to the messages your body is trying to give you about your health and wellness – because those messages will keep getting louder and louder until you have to pay attention (disease, injury, etc.)
  5. And, of course, acknowledge and connect with your higher self. So you can learn to listen to those messages.
  6. Additional resources mentioned in today’s podcast: yoga healing books by Nischala Joy Devi

Thanks for listening and we’ll see you next time in the tent.
