Consistent Path – Creative Life!

In this podcast, we explore the meaning of consistency and we challenge the notion of staying on the safe path, all for the sake of being good. Does a consistent routine kill the element of surprise and curiosity? There is no path to the world of spontaneity but we can carve out a way by being creative in our lives by following a routine and setting daily intentions. Join us in the tent as we explore the safe road of rituals and the creative element of being in harmony with your higher self.

Morning rituals to start the day! Movement, nourishment, and a daily intention.

This conversation in the tent came about because of an aha moment for Wendy. She was recently confronted with the definition of consistency and realized that the word itself makes her think of a prison. But when faced with deadlines and appointments Wendy needed to embrace a new meaning, a new way of seeing the necessary routines of life. We all need a ritual to get the day started. And from there we can springboard into a creative day that just might hold a spontaneous moment or two!

Twyla Tharp

In Twyla Tharp’s book, “The Creative Habit, Learn it and use it for LIFE” the author talks about the willingness to make a habit releases productivity! From there we enter the world of creativity and as you know, Wendy and I are all about Creativity! It is one of the 5 Elements of Harmony!

We can’t be taught to be spontaneous or creative but we can come into communion with our higher self as we experience the daily moments of living; especially as the consistency of a routine allows for energetic thinking and action.

Moments with Your Higher Self

Carefully curated activities – we’re educators, we know that reflection on a topic (homework) works and these activities can help us share even more moments with our higher self.

This week will take a cue from Twyla’s book to get you in the reflective mode…..

  1. The dancer and choreographer Twyla Tharp reminds us to observe the world—and write it down, journal about your perceptions of you and your place in the world.
  2. Become an observer of your own routines. Which ones are working for you and what do you need to change?
  3. Write down the word Consistent, define it for yourself, and explore the examples from your own life.
  4. Write down the word Spontaneous, again…. define it and explore the word for yourself.
  5. Start a conversation with a friend about routines and creativity. Seek some advice from those you know and love.

Thanks for listening and we’ll see you next time in the tent.

  1. I love my consistent life. I do have more time now to explore creativity and am discovering what that looks like. I am also enjoying distractions and do not find them as annoying as they used to be!
